Online research and Social Media

Everything started with finding out as much as I could about tiny houses (both on wheels and not) being built - and there is so much online it can get very confusing.

I must have watched 200 uTube videos about different builds and listened to all the rationales provided for different design decisions.

I made lists, collected pics and screen grabs in a folder on my computer and wrote copious notes.

I found Tiny Houses Australia and Tiny Homes Australia on Facebook so I'm always reading everything everyone writes and I think I've watched every video Bryce has produced under Living Big in a Tiny House

I tried to get to see someone's tiny house, but that never quite eventuated. However,  I've lived in small flats and bedsits enough to know what living small is like so that wasn't a huge issue. I actually drew on these experiences a lot in coming up with different ideas and designs to address the practicalities of living small.

I started getting excited about the project and frustrated that I couldn't just get started

Everything rattled around in my head, getting more and more confused and obsessive. I needed to see what it was that was building itself in my imagination, so I turned to an old skill - building in a 3D virtual world - one where I could stand my avatar in my space and see just how low that ceiling was and how much room I'd have around me in the kitchen, and how difficult it would be to reach the top shelves in my pantry and/or laundry cupboard. I returned to the GCG and started to build.

You can see all the different versions of the development process in the menu above the Evolving Designs section.
